Staffordshire County Council has a net revenue budget of GBP 509 million and has delivered GBP 240 million of savings over the last 9 years. The capital programme is around GBP 116 million for 2019/20. Staffordshire is a large authority with an excellent track record for delivering savings and for good financial management and planning.
An opportunity has arisen at a senior level to join a dynamic, motivated and flexible finance team, helping Staffordshire to face the issues currently challenging local government and to overcome them successfully. Applicants must be CCAB qualified with a minimum of two years' post-qualification experience. An excellent understanding of local government finance and the current challenges for local authorities is essential.
The successful applicant will demonstrate excellent communication skills, the ability to build strong influential relationships with peers and leaders and the ability to engender the confidence of others. You will be required to work flexibly and creatively to meet changing priorities.
Applicants must be analytical, be able to manipulate, analyse and interpret financial information to identify and present trends, financial risks, mitigations, options and logical proposals to aid decision-making in support of stakeholders.
The roles is responsible for the supervision of others and it is therefore expected that applicants demonstrate the ability to manage others including work planning, prioritising activities and performance monitoring.
