Democracy & Governance Officer
Salary: £32,234- £36,922 per annum
37 Hours per week
The Post
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person to join our Member & Democratic Services Team. This is a great opportunity to work with councillors, senior officers, partners and our residents at the heart of the Council’s decision-making process.
The post holder will provide efficient and effective administration of the Council’s governance and decision-making processes and provide support to officers and councillors with the aim of providing the highest quality service.
In addition, the position will support the co-ordination, planning, conduct and servicing, as appropriate, of committees, meetings, panels and working groups as directed, ensuring compliance with all relevant Standing Orders, procedures and policies as set out in the County Council’s Constitution.
The Person
With experience in a directly comparable role, you will have significant exposure to a democratic and governance environment.
We are looking for someone who is comfortable with negotiating and influencing at all levels to ensure successful outcomes, with a positive attitude and passion for excellent service who is well organised, calm under pressure and able to work independently on their own initiative. Responsible for a busy and varied workload, you will need experience in managing meetings along with excellent communication, IT and team working skills. Working as part of a small but talented and friendly team, you will also need the ability to work flexibly, adapt to changing priorities and meet tight deadlines with an attention to detail and innovative approach to service delivery. We are also looking for someone proactive who has a commitment to continuous improvement for both their team and themselves.
